Howdy Pardner! My name is Peter and this summer, on August 17th, 2016, I got to go on an adventure.
Doreen and Colleen had arranged to go horseback riding at the Kicking Mule Ranch on Manitoulin Island, and I was invited to go with them. Horseback riding is something that I have been asking to do for a while. I used to go riding a long time ago, but haven’t gone in many years. Staff Chantal accompanied me.
We drove over to the Island, to the Ranch and got to see a petting zoo, with rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens.
We had to wear safety helmets, so I had to take off my cowboy hat for the ride. I rode a mule, and was ponied by one of the Guides. This means that the Guide, rode ahead of me and lead my Mule with a lead line.
We had a great time. It started to rain hard shortly after we got going, so we had to take a shorter trail that wouldn’t be as slippery. We all got soaking wet.
I was so relaxed on my horse, that I started to nod off as we were riding. When we got back, Willy (the lady who owns the ranch), said that only real cowboys fall asleep while riding their horse. I guess that means I am a real cowboy!
We stopped and had a big lunch at Green Acres before going back home. I had a big cheese burger, fries and gravy of course. I wore my cowboy hat again all the way home and all evening. Once home, I told everyone that I was a cowboy and about how much fun I had.
I sure hope we get to go again next year.
