My name is Denis and this summer I got to go on a nice little vacation with my friend Anna and staff Laurie and Lori.
We got up on Thursday morning and started the long drive to Wasaga Beach. Once we got to Wasaga Beach we found our motel. The Donata House Hotel was very nice and all of the rooms had a little balcony. We checked in, changed into shorts and sandals then we went for a walk on the beach. It was a nice day but not real hot. Wasaga Beach is REALLY big and we found a picnic table to rest at. All along the beach we stopped to take pictures. Anna, Lori, and Laurie took off their shoes and put their feet in the water but I said, “No way, the water is too cold”! I did take my shoes off so we could take pictures of our toes in the sand though. We saw children building sand castles and we looked at all the nice homes along the beach. We spent a few hours walking and enjoying the beach and then it was time to go back to our motel. Somehow we got a little bit lost and missed our path back and we ended up walking a lot farther than we needed too. Good thing it was a nice day.
After the beach we went out for supper to Boston Pizza. Anna and I LOVED the pizza! We were kinda tired from all the walking but decided to go shopping. We found a Walmart and I bought some clothes and a new camera. We found a little ice cream shop and we definitely weren’t too tired to stop. I had a butter tart and we took pictures in front of a bear statue before heading back to our room. We were all in bed pretty early and slept really, really good!
The next morning we got up and had breakfast before we left the motel for our next stop — Elmvale Zoo! On our way there we stopped at a little farmer’s market and we looked at all the crafts, baking and goodies. They had butter tarts there too! Elmvale is a nice little town and everyone was really friendly.
We finally got to the zoo and there were all kinds of different animals to see! I couldn’t wait to see the monkeys! I threw pieces of banana at them and I also fed a giraffe but I didn’t want to feed the deer or goats. Laurie showed me how to use my new camera and I took LOTS of pictures! I took picture of monkeys, turkeys, tigers, lions, birds, ducks, llamas, deer, kangaroos, flamingoes, camels and even pot-bellied pigs. It was lots of fun and I got a really nice picture of an Eagle!
After the zoo we had lunch at MacDonald’s then started on our way home. We stopped at the French River Trading Post to shop and for a treat. I had another butter tart! I like butter tarts so much Laurie says she will help me make some for Christmas this year.
We got home pretty late Friday night and BOY was I tired! It felt good to be home. A few days later Laurie and I went and had my pictures developed. We bought and made a picture album with my pictures and did some of Anna’s because she got a new camera too. I even had three pictures framed to give to my family.
I told Laurie that I want to go on another big trip next year. I hope she takes me somewhere fun!
