50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll was the theme this year for CLE’s 6th Annual Hop-into-Spring Sock Hop. On May 16th, 2013, surrounding communities joined Community Living Espanola at the Elks Hall for a day filled with friends, food and fun. This event is held every year to bring people together, to promote community inclusion and to help raise funds to support activities and events at the day program. It is always well attended and this year there were over 190 individuals with their support staff; some from as far away as Blind River and Sudbury. A fabulous spaghetti lunch was served; then it was time to dance…and dance they did! Many came dressed in costumes reflecting the era. DJ Bob kept the discs a’spinning and the dance floor was overflowing with people kicking up their heels and anxiously waiting for their names to be called for the spot dances.
Pauline, a resident of Espanola likes being a part of this event and says, I like greeting people at the door with Connie and I hope I can continue doing this. It’s a lot of fun and I enjoy the music. Thanks to all the staff who put this on and thanks to Bob for playing the music”.
When the day was done, a tired but very happy guest was heard to say, “I can’t WAIT for next year!”
