Each year the month of May marks Community Living Month across Ontario. It is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities and a wonderful opportunity to deliver a strong, unified message of inclusion. In the spirit of this celebration, Community Living Espanola hosted its 7th Annual YARD SALE and BBQ fundraiser on May 24th and 25th, 2013 in the front lot of The Craft House. This two day event has become a huge success in not only increasing awareness of our organization and the individuals we support but also in raising funds that benefit all programs. The sun was shining and although it may have been a wee bit c-c-c-cold, the only thing the weather deterred was the blackflies! The “yardsalers” were certainly out in full force, sifting through the many treasures and then afterwards sipping coffee and enjoying the hotdogs ‘n hamburgers at the BBQ; a GREAT way to fill the belly and warm up the hands!

This fundraiser is a collaboration of LOTS of hard work and LOTS of great fun and we are pleased to report that this year’s event raised $1,722.00! Community Living Espanola extends a big THANK YOU to clients, staff and Board members who volunteered their gift of time, energy and enthusiastic support; to the many community businesses for the BBQ donations and to the community for their continued support.
